Cinema and Music Collide for a Unique, Unmissable Event This Winter

We are delighted to once again welcome Richard Tognetti and members of the ACO this year to Niseko. This time around however, things are getting taken to new heights.

Alongside special live performances by Richard and members of the ACO at The Orchards and Tanta-An Mountain Center, we will also be premiering Mountain, an epic cinema documentary from acclaimed director Jennifer Peedom, with narration by Willem Dafoe. Expect to be completely enthralled by footage shot at some of the world’s highest peaks, from Antarctica to Hawaii.

Mountain is a cinematic and musical collaboration between acclaimed director Jennifer Peedom and one of the greatest chamber orchestras in the world. The 70-minute film explores the nature of our modern fascination with mountains.

"To those who are enthralled by mountains, their wonder is beyond all dispute. To those who are not, their allure is a kind of madness."

Mountain will have its premiere in Niseko on January 18, where it will screen at our family friendly event at the Tanta-An Mountain Center with performances by Mt. Yotei Junior Jazz Band before Richard and members of the ACO take the stage. With adults at ¥4,500 + ticketing fee (including one standard drink) and children (7-12 years) at ¥2,000 + ticketing fee.

The second performance will be a more intimate affair held at The Orchards. A special outdoor cocktail reception will start the evening before a performance by Richard and members of the ACO, followed by a screening of Mountain.

The evening will conclude with a brief Q&A session attended by director Jennifer and composer Richard. This is an adults only event, with tickets at ¥8,000 + ticketing fee (including canapés and glass of champagne).
