Tomo Niseko, a modern Japanese Izakaya style restaurant, is officially open on site at The Orchards Niseko for the winter 2019/20 season. We are looking for an Assistant General Manager who will help recruit for year round operations and have responsibility for overall profitability. In this role, you will work closely with the Executive Chef and General Manager to deliver a high-quality menu, train and motivate the team, expand the customer network and provide excellent customer service. In this role you will be expected to adapt and switch between managing the bar and assisting with front of house operations as and when needed. We will expect you to lead by example and uplift the team during busy periods. Ultimately, you will ensure that our restaurant runs smoothly and customers have an exceptional dining experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all bar operations, from flow of service to stock management and ordering
  • Assist with front of house operations
  • Daily cash out and managing POS systems
  • Assist the Manager with reservations system and guest bookings
  • Regularly provide feedback to staff in a constructive and positive manner to instill a culture of continual improvement and development
  • Control operational costs and identify measures to cut down on waste
  • Be an active member in continual staff training by promoting excellence in Food, Beverage and Service flow practices

Selection Criteria

  • Conversational level English required
  • Conversational level Japanese required
  • Extensive knowledge of the food and beverage industry with the ability to remember and recall ingredients and dishes to inform customers and wait staff
  • Familiarity with restaurant management accounts keeping and POS software
  • Strong leadership, motivational and interpersonal skills
  • Financial management skills

Working Hours

Working days/hours will vary depending on business needs

Remuneration

Starting from ¥250,000 – ¥350,000 per month (commensurate on experience)
