EdVenture Niseko Summer Program Leader

EdVenture is an immersive, multi-activity camp experience based in Niseko, Hokkaido, Japan. Designed to help families make the most of Hokkaido’s incredible green season, the week-long program connects children and young teenagers to new friends from around the world. Participants will learn new skills and tackle adventures with their family members in innovative ways. The camp takes full advantage of its location nestled between the iconic Mount Yōtei and Mount Annupuri.

As an EdVenture Kids Camp, Summer Program Leader, you embody the roles of role model, mentor, and hero to fellow staff, campers, and parents. Your pivotal responsibilities encompass staff management, program execution, and ensuring the seamless week-to-week operation of your program throughout the summer. Collaboration with senior management, camp mentors, junior mentors, campers, and parents is a key aspect of this role.

Key Qualities

  • Previous teaching or camp counselling experience is essential
  • Demonstrate proven leadership skills, comfort in overseeing a small team, and the ability to balance multiple tasks.
  • Hold a valid Japanese driver's license or be eligible to obtain an International Driving Permit.
  • First aid training is advantageous
  • Experience in a managerial role
  • Passion for the outdoors and nature
  • Eagerness to lead and manage all program activities
  • Proactive approach to problem-solving
  • Strong communication skills to bridge messages and needs between senior management, mentor staff, junior mentors, campers, and parents
  • Desire and ability to thrive in a cooperative, team-oriented atmosphere
  • Enthusiastic, patient, and reliable
  • Must have or be eligible to obtain a Japanese Working Holiday Visa or already have the legal right to work in Japan

Working Hours

Anticipate an average of up to 40 hours per week during the peak summer season

Remuneration

¥8,000 for a half-day and ¥16,000 for a full day
