Frequently Asked Questions

Snowmobile Tours

Do I need a driver's license to operate a snowmobile?

No, anyone over the age of 13 can drive a snowmobile.

My child is younger than 6 years old, can we bring them on the tour?

No, they cannot join the tour. We recommend taking children under the age of 6 to the Grand Hirafu snow play park with has great snow scoot bikes and other snow facilities for little ones, we also recommend the tube park in Hanazono, both of these do not require booking in advance.

Will we have time to take photographs?

Yes, your guide will take you to the best viewpoints.

What do we need to wear?

We advise you wear waterproof ski/snowboard jacket and pants as you will be driving through snow. A warm pair of winter boots/shoes are also essential, please note that ski boots are not recommended. Scarves/neck warmers, gloves & warm hat are a must and goggles/sunglasses are always handy especially as the snow can be very bright on a sunny day. All participants must wear helmets. All of these items can be provided by the snowmobile company for an additional cost, (goggles & helmet are included in the price) this can be arranged on arrival to Hanazono.

What is the difference between 2-Stroke and 4-Stroke?

This is a reference to the engine size, if you would prefer a tour with very fast snowmobiles we recommend booking the 4-Stroke tour. For families with younger children a 2-Stroke snowmobile will be more than enough fun!
