Food & Beverage Manager

As the Food & Beverage Manager, you will play an essential role in ensuring a smooth and fulfilling camp experience for our young participants. Your primary responsibilities will involve overseeing culinary activities and daily nutrition for our campers, as well as managing the operational space to maintain an organised and nurturing environment throughout the camp. Additionally, you will serve as the central point of contact for all food and beverage-related matters, including menu planning, operational coordination, parent dinner arrangements, inventory management, and other related tasks.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate and facilitate culinary activities and meal preparations to meet the nutritional needs and preferences of campers.
- Plan and execute menus in collaboration with camp staff, considering dietary restrictions and preferences.
- Oversee the operational space to ensure it is well-maintained, organized, and conducive to various camp activities.
- Serve as the primary liaison for food and beverage-related logistics, including deliveries, stock management, and inventory control.
- Coordinate parent dinners and other special events involving food and beverage services.
- Monitor and maintain cleanliness and hygiene standards in the kitchen and dining areas.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure seamless coordination of operational tasks and activities.
- Provide support and guidance to camp staff regarding food preparation, safety protocols, and operational procedures.
- Assist in resolving any issues or concerns related to culinary activities or operational space management.
- Maintain accurate records of food inventory, expenses, and other relevant documentation.
In summary, the Food & Beverage Manager will play a pivotal role in creating a positive and nurturing environment for campers by overseeing culinary activities, managing the operational space, and coordinating food and beverage-related logistics.
Applicants should be aware that during less busy periods of the season, they may be called upon to fulfill backup roles as required. These additional responsibilities may include tasks such as barista duties, driving, snow clearing, rubbish collection, light cleaning, etc.
Key Qualities
- Demonstrated experience working with children, preferably in teaching or camp counselling roles.
- Experience in culinary management and operational logistics for camp environments.
- Hold a valid working holiday visa, be a Japanese citizen, or be eligible for a sponsorship visa.
- Fluency in Japanese is required, while proficiency in English or Mandarin is advantageous.
- Willingness to work outdoors in various weather conditions, ensuring the safety and well-being of participants.
- Possess a valid Japanese driver's license or an International Driving Permit.
- First aid qualifications are beneficial but optional.
