Fast 5 With Our Seasonal Team: Meet Caroline

Our seasonal team members play an integral role in providing an unforgettable winter experience to all our owners and guests. This month, we are taking 5 minutes to get to know our seasonal team members a little better by asking them 5 quick questions.

Introducing Caroline

To start off our series, we introduce the first smiling face of our seasonal team, Caroline. If you have joined us at The Orchards this winter season, Caroline will have likely played a meaningful role in your stay. As part of the vibrant Resort Host team based at The Orchards, Caroline is responsible for picking guests up and welcoming them to the resort, checking them into their properties, and going above and beyond to ensure they have a comfortable stay. Knowledgable, caring and above all else welcoming, get to know Caroline a little more below.

Meet Caroline, one of our Resort Hosts based at The Orchards

Where do you call home, Caroline?

I am originally from South Africa, and spent most of my childhood growing up there. For some time now though, Brisbane, Australia has been my home.

What exactly was it that drew you to Niseko?

At the age of 15, I visited Niseko for the first time with my family and absolutely loved it. After this trip, I was certain that at some point I wanted to work a ski season. Having recently graduated, I figured it was the perfect time to look into working a ski season in Japan, and everything else kind of just worked out. I definitely recommend Niseko for anyone considering working a ski season abroad!

We know how amazing the skiing and snowboarding is in Niseko, but what are some of your favourite activities to do off the mountain?

I enjoy walking around town and exploring. Slowly, I am also making my way through a list of Japanese restaurants, cafes and food trucks. Taking day trips to nearby towns like Otaru is also really fun.

In your opinion, what is one thing anyone visiting Niseko absolutely must do?

When it's a beautiful bluebird day, you definitely need to hike to the peak of Mt. Niseko-Annupuri – at least once! On a nice day, the views from the top are amazing. You can see Mt. Yotei perfectly, Kutchan town and all of Hirafu village. If you're lucky, you'll even be able to catch a glimpse of the sea.

Lastly, what is your top tip for someone who is planning to work a season in Niseko?

I would say just put yourself out there. There are so many amazing people in Niseko, so strike a conversation and get to know them.
