As a Bus Driver for MnK you will be working at the Chalets at Country Resort, a collection of chalets located a short drive from Hirafu Village. For our guests' convenience, we run a bus service to the centre of Hirafu and the base of the ski resort. As a Bus Driver your responsibilities will include shuttling our guests in and out of town (in sometimes harsh and difficult winter driving conditions), looking after the upkeep of the bus and providing excellent customer service for our guests. We are seeking hard working staff to join the Operations team who can go the extra mile for our guests, while being organised and self motivated. At MnK, having the busy winter seasons run efficiently and effectively is a priority, so individuals with awesome teamwork skills are highly valued and appreciated!

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide guests with friendly, professional and personalised customer service
  • Maintain all MnK vehicles including fuel checks, bus tyre changes, fluid checks and top up and general vehicle condition checks
  • Shuttle our guests to and from town while following all of Japan’s driving and road laws
  • Check, update and organise our daily bus schedule
  • Communicate with your team to ensure a smooth flow of operation
  • Provide a safe and comfortable journey for our guests in challenging driving conditions  
  • Have a basic knowledge of our guest services and resort information to pass onto guests
  • Be prepared for physical work and a lot of snow clearing!
  • Be a team player; you will be working and living in a close environment with your teammates
  • Provide guests with local information and recommendations when requested
  • Support the Front Desk/Resort Host team and site manager
  • Support other teams during busy times

Selection Criteria

  • Must have or be eligible to obtain a Japanese Work/Working Holiday Visa or have the legal right to work in Japan
  • Must have or be able to obtain an International Driving Permit (Class D) valid in Japan or Japanese Driving Licence is (Class D). Must cover driving of a vehicle up to 29 seats and 4.9 tonne
  • Comprehensive driving experience of medium to large vehicles (20+ seaters) in adverse conditions
  • Applicants must be fluent in English or Japanese. (English/Japanese/Chinese bilingual language ability an advantage)
  • A desire to experience the ski/ snowboard and mountain lifestyle
  • Face to face customer service and hospitality experience is an advantage 
  • Ability to deal with guest complaints and issues calmly and professionally
  • Ability to use your initiative and work well under pressure 
  • The desire to learn all the local information/activities and help sell guest services
  • Comfortable with physical work and up for a lot of snow clearing!

Contract Length

Working Hours

Depends on customer demand and snow conditions but on average you are expected to work 40-50 hours a week during peak (Christmas/New Year and Chinese New Year) season and 20-30 hours per week in low season. Average of 40 hours per week.


¥1,400-1,500 per hour depending on experience and language ability
