Housekeeping Team Leader

As Housekeeping Team Leader, your role is to oversee and support the daily operations of our housekeeping staff. In this hands-on role, you will be responsible for ensuring cleanliness standards are consistently met across all areas, guiding team members, managing work schedules, monitoring and ordering stock and inventory, and handling any issues that arise during shifts. The ideal candidate is a natural leader with excellent communication skills, great time management, and strong attention to detail. You will be working as part of the Guest Services and Housekeeping team to make sure our guests have an amazing holiday and our properties are correctly maintained. Teamwork within MnK is important to make the winter seasons run effectively, and so we are looking for individuals who have awesome teamwork skills to join us here in Niseko.

Key Responsibilities
  • Guiding and supervising housekeeping team members.
  • Curation and managing of daily cleaning schedules, ensuring all tasks are completed effectively, and in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring adequate stock of cleaning supplies and requesting replenishment as necessary.
  • Performing high-detail cleaning of accommodation upon guest departure. Including:
  • Cleaning and sanitizing guest bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens, and living areas as per established standards.
  • Dusting, vacuuming, and mopping floors
  • Making beds and changing linens
  • Cleaning windows, mirrors, and glass surfaces to ensure spotless finishes.
  • Emptying trash bins and disposing of waste appropriately.
  • Conducting light and mid-cleaning of accommodation during guest stays.
  • Organizing and performing accommodation inspections before guests arrive and after the guest departs - checking for any maintenance requirements/lost property/final cleaning/etc.
  • Communicating with front desk regarding any guest or accommodation issues
  • Snow clearing guest entranceways and balconies
  • Supporting the Guest Services team and site manager
  • Supporting other teams during busy times
Selection Criteria
  • Experience in a previous housekeeping and/or team leader role essential
  • Must be able to use your initiative and work well under pressure
  • A willingness to go the extra mile to help out your team/ our guests
  • Comfortable with physical work and up for a lot of snow clearing!
  • Must have or be eligible to obtain a Japanese Working Holiday Visa or already have the legal right to work in Japan
  • Must have a Japanese driver's license or be able to obtain an International Driving Permit valid for Japan.
  • Applicants must be fluent in English and Japanese.
  • A desire to experience a ski/snowboard season in a bustling mountain town

Working Hours
It depends on customer demand and snow conditions but on average you are expected to work an average of 35-40 hours a week. (6-8 Hours per day, 5 days per week)
Remuneration
¥1,800 - ¥2,100 per hour depending on experience and language ability.
