When do applications open and close?
We typically welcome applications from June until September each year.
Do you provide accommodation?
Yes, our team can provide affordable, subsidised accommodation in Hirafu and Kutchan.
When does the winter season start and conclude?
Depending on snowfall, the ski resort usually opens sometime between 23 November and 1 December. The resort can stay open as late as May. We require applicants to be in Niseko by late November to commence their training and induction.
Do you offer short and long term seasonal contracts?
Yes, we are able to offer short-term contracts that run from late November to the end of February, and long-term contracts that run from late -November to the end of March.
Do I require a visa to apply for a seasonal position?
You do not require a visa to apply for a position however, you must be eligible for a valid Working Holiday Visa or be a resident of Japan to be considered. For more information on the working holiday program in Japan see here.
Do I need to be able to speak Japanese to apply?
No. Niseko is an international, seasonal resort that sees many international guests visit throughout the winter season. As a result, conversational English is a requirement for the application. Applicants who can speak Japanese or Chinese in addition to English are highly regarded.
Do you provide training?
Yes, we provide a comprehensive (paid) induction and training program that goes for 1-2 weeks. We follow up with on-the-job training and coaching throughout the season.
How many hours a week am I expected to work? Will I have time to go skiing/snowboarding?
Your roster will be highly dependent on the position you're applying for, however,.generally speaking, you will be required to work 32-40 hours per week with 2 days off per week. Your shifts will typically vary between morning, night and/or split shifts. This ensures there is plenty of opportunities to explore the area and fit in time on the slopes even on work days.
Do you offer staff access to lift passes?
Yes! Most positions will come with your own season lift passes for the Grand Hirafu and Hanazono ski area, you can also upgrade to the All-Mountain Pass if you wish for an extra fee. Snowsports Instructors will be issued their own Niseko United All-Mountain (Commercial) as it is a requirement of their role!
Do you offer internships?
Yes, we offer internships for students in Japan. This opportunity provides valuable on-the-job training and development in an international working environment, unique to Niseko. Please see here for more information.
I am travelling with my friend/partner, would you consider hiring us both? Would we be able to live together?
Yes, we consider this with your application, however, we ask that you apply for different departments so you don’t have to spend 24 hours a day together.
